This painting is a significant departure from my traditional landscapes. When I painted it I had in mind that I would title it ‘The Departure’ because it was to represent my moving on (in my spiritual life not in what I am painting). After viewing it a few times on my loungeroom wall however it began to ‘speak’ to me, and it quickly became very clear to me that while it is still about moving on, it is much more about looking forward than looking back. While I am on a never ending journey and have never actually ‘arrived’, I think its about ‘another’ arrival… about arriving at a new starting point…about picking up the journey again and moving into the unknown from a place where, if I am to be honest, I’ll admit to having been a bit lost.
